The Compass Crypto Basket Layer 1 Index is a diversified digital asset index designed with the objective of offering a broad exposure to Layer 1 cryptoassets while capping each component exposure to 30%. Weightings are based on liquidity and market capitalization. This index offers exposure on the blockchains themselves, the fundations of all the Crypto world. Without them, anything related to crypto wouldn’t exist. They are the elementary bricks of everything. Layer 1 refers to the projects that have their own blockchain and cryptocurrency. As opposed to Layer 2 which are the services and ’Dapps’ built on top of them. The Index is to be composed of the 10 most representative and liquid Layer 1 cryptoassets. The index universe is composed of the ”Layer 1” cryptoassets. As a first step, cryptoassets classified as ”Layer 1” by CoinGecko are selected. Then, a complementary analysis is performed on each preselected cryptoasset in order to finally determine the eligible coins based on their legitimacy regarding this sector, as well as the reliability and strength of the related project.
